Comment: Last night I did something really dumb but was saved because earlier I had been fairly smart. I was finishing installation of DSL on my computer when I decided to clean out some programs. In the process I managed to delete my SATA drivers. The next time I tried to boot I was dead in the water. After trying the usual things I was just about to give up and start reloading XP plus all the programs installed over the past year. Then It suddenly dawned on me that a month ago I had imaged the XP partition onto another hard drive using Drive Image. So I booted off the Drive Image CD and laid the image into the XP partition and about half an hour later XP was up and running again. Since I keep all my email and addresses on a seperate partition, I didn't even lose that portion. Sure beats the hell out of starting from scratch. That reminds me, I better do a new image in the near future.

Reply: (edit)I hear ya, it's saved my bacon a few times too, just recently my 200GB primary disk stopped being detected in the BIOS and would freeze the entire system permanently once windows desktop is loaded. Fortunately I had two partitions namely, the system (OS) & data (Files and Backup Images) on there and all I had to do was get a new drive and reimaged the new drive using the last image made last week from the system partition on the 200GB and I was back in business after a couple of hours. All thanks to DriveImage. List of Lists.
