Powerquest Drive Image 2000 creates two recovery floppy disks (which allow the "reconstruction" of the drive from the image. I don't have a floppy disk drive, so I'd like to create a bootable CD which contains the same information of the floppy disks. Any idea? Thanks a lot.

You might not need to create these disks .....

Try booting from a Win98 floppy disk and navigate to/run DI2000 from the install directory.

If it runs properly and gives u options to create/restore image files, then (like Ghost), the program floppy disks are superfluous !!

If DI2000 insists on writing these disks to A: drive, u can't do it anyway !!

If the Drive Image 2000 you refer to is version 5 (which I have) then there is nothing in the Drive Image User Guide that shows that a bootable CD can be used in lieu of the Emergency diskettes. It may be different with Drive Image 2002 which is version 6.

Consider installing a floppy drive, they are dirt cheap.

I made a bootable DriveImage cd awhile back. There are a few steps to creating it but it's fairly easy.

You will need two programs to burn the cd.
1. Winrar from www.rarlab.com
2. Nero from www.ahead.de

Both prgrams have free 30 day trials.

1. Download my boot image here.
2. Create a new folder on your desktop and name it DrvImage
3. Copy the contents of the second DriveImage recovery disk into the DrvImage folder.
4. Extract bootimage.rar to your desktop.
5. Launch Nero and close the wizard when/if it opens.
6. In the new compilation window select CD-ROM (Boot).
7. Check the image radio button and browse to the boot image you extracted to your desktop (bootimage.ima) and click the new button.
8. Drag the DrvImage folder on your desktop into the left side of Nero.
9. Burn the cd.

I forgot there were that many steps lol so if you have any problems post back. I can post images if need be. You can also Email me if you need to.

Thanks, Sandman, for your kind instructions. But something went wrong during the process: after creating the CD following your instructions and booting with it, Drive Image did not find the pqdi.rtc file. It's not included in the second rescue floppy disk. I got it from the net and included it to the CD, but then the message that appears is: "pqdi.rtc file is corrupted".
Any idea?

When copying the files off the second disk make sure you get the four following files.

PQDI.RTC
PQDI.exe
PQDI.pqg
pqDI.ovl

Some of these files may be hidden (I can't remember) and wont copy over unless you enable "Show hidden files and folders" in the folder options control panel first.

If that isn't the problem email me. I have something that will help you out.
